Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif began dating in 2003.
Their first on-screen offering was 'Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya', which was only a moderate success at the B.O.
Katrina had also worked with Salman in 'Partner' (but was not paired with him) and in Subhash Ghai's 'Yuvvraaj', which did not do well, commercially. The duo will be seen together in Yash Raj Films' 'Ek Tha Tiger'.
"Salman Khan is a senior actor and I have learnt a lot from him during the making of the films. He is very focused and dedicated," says Katrina about Salman.
In the beginning of their relationship, the industry speculated that Katrina was "using Salman to make a name for herself".
Given the string of women he's dated in the past, his seven-year affair with Katrina had actually come as a surprise for those close to Salman.
Rumour mills had always run double-time when it came to Salman and Katrina's relationship, be it marriage plans, break-ups, or other controversies.
Says Sallu: "The press has broken me up so many times and married me off as many times too. It doesn't matter!"
Known to be a possessive and demanding boyfriend, Salman had brought troubles for both himself and his love, many times.
Salman picked a fight with Shahrukh Khan during Katrina Kaif's birthday bash, creating a humongous tiff between both the stars, leaving Katrina visibly upset.
The rift is said to be the start of their troubles in paradise.
According to gossip hawks, Salman had also put a bikini-ban on Katrina, due to which she lost out on Rakesh Roshan's next film (the sequel to 'Krrish').
Salman has also been (in)famous for his "violent love stories".
He once shocked everyone in a cafe when, during a heated argument with Kats, he reportedly slapped her. Both of them had, however, rubbished the report.
For Katrina Kaif, her silence had always been her virtue. It was not until a long time after they began dating that Katrina openly disclosed her relationship with him.
When asked about her hesitation to openly talk about Salman in the media, she said, "We respect each other's privacy. I'm answerable to the media for my professional life, not my personal life."
The media too had played a major role in their rocky romance.
Salman, it is said, had contemplated marriage with Katrina several times, but the latter reportedly wanted to build her career further before marrying Salman.
The recent byte is that Salman and Katrina have (finally) broken up, and that she has walked out of his life.
When asked what she wanted for her B'day this year, Katrina had said, "In the coming year I hope to find love. Every girl needs someone to share her life with."
Gossip hawks have also reported that Katrina is enjoying the company of Ranbir Kapoor "immensely".
Salman too seems to have moved on and has found new love in his 'Veer' co-star, Zarine Khan.
But have they really broken up? Or is it another stray rumour? Only time will tell... Till then, it is "Maine Pyaar Kiya" and not "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?"
