The continuing scandal surrounding British tabloid the News of the World intensified as allegations emerged that the paper had not only hacked into but also deleted messages from the phone of Milly Dowler, a 13-year-old schoolgirl abducted and murdered in 2002, potentially hampering police investigations. The claims have piled pressure on Rebekah Brooks (pictured), the paper's then editor, and now Chief Executive of the British arm of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, the world's second largest media organisation.
