Now here is one actor who believes in Green living and quite literally so. The recently married Imran Khan is building a home... So? Well the actor is building his home using green and eco-friendly material. Imran's new home would have a rainwater harvesting system in place to recycle and reuse from Mumbai's ample monsoon; the tiles that will be used in the house are made from recycled industrial waste. Wow!

Whats more Imran also makes the effort of splitting the garbage in his home to wet and dry bins. The wet bin converts householed trash to compost that can be used in the garden instead of rotting away in a landfill! The dry recyclable waste can be sold to the raddiwalah directly.

Now that one really green youth icon!

Neha Dhupia

This sexy babe did an Alicia Silverstone act recently and went topless for a green calendar in support of the Go Green Franchise Community Initiative. The program funded by the calendar is focused on raising awareness about environmental conservation through India's businesses, according to IndianExpress.com.

Topless in some images and wearing creations by fashion designer Neeta Lulla in others, Dhupia exudes strength, sexuality, and earthiness. Talking about the calendar Neha Dhupia reveals, "I grabbed this opportunity of making people aware of today's need to protect the environment. This initiative is very close to my heart."

Salman Khan

Meet the crazy, sexy, cool icon of Bollywood. Love him or hate him you surely can't ignore Salman Khan or his socio-environmental call. He is one believer in the phrase "Burn fat not fuel" and is a self-styled spokesperson for an alternative to automobile travel.

And what better way to do that than cycle? In February 2010, Sallu kicked off Mumbai's first cyclothon as part of his "Being Human" Foundation's effort. The event, in which Khan and other celebrities participated in, was designed to promote cycling as an alternative to automobile travel. The environment is one of Khan's big concerns; nothing could really be more human or humane.

Salman is no stranger to cycling, this is something he's been doing even while learning to walk, and he owns several professional bikes that he uses to get around the city. People have often seen Salman cycling from his Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra to location shoots at Film City in Goregaon.

Rahul Bose

Now this is one firebrand actor-activist! Rahul Bose recently Rahul Bose slammed developed countries for preaching to developing nations to reduce "the use of energy sources" in order to cut down on "greenhouse gases and carbon emissions" without practising the same!

The 42-year-old also slammed the regular meets to discuss the climate change without any positive outcome. "Over 200 countries have talked about the need to do something collectively about climate change for the last 25 years, but have done nothing about it," he said. "25 years later, melted glaciers later, vanished lakes later, thousands of forest fires later, the world's leaders are still squabbling about what should be done about climate change."

Rahul saw the need for a greater involvement in the environmental issue when he came across the shocking statistics that 7 out of 10 Indians are affected adversely by any climatic change - mainly farmers, foresters and fisher folk.

He has been pretty vocal about the effort done by governments (or the lack of it) for the environment and has been actively involved with environmental NGOs in shaking up such 'sleeping governments'.

John Abraham

Bollywood hunk John Abraham, besides being eye candy, also devotes effort and money to support causes that he believes in. John's sense of social responsibility drove him to help in creating India's first elephant village in Maharashtra.

John has also actively been working with grass root communities for creating habitat for animal welfare. His commitment towards elephants has helped several of these wild animals return to their natural home.

John was awarded the EcoWarrior award on World Environment Day in 2009 for championing the cause of elephants. He also has pledged to use his motor-bike more than his car to reduce consumption of fuel and for lower carbon emissions. That John is totally nuts about biking is beside the point!
