The Mumbai oil spill

Washington: A young lion cub tries to swim in the moat around the lion habitat at the Smithsonian Zoo. Staff conducted swim tests on four lion cubs in the moat surrounding the lion habitat, to ensure that the cubs can safely maneuver the moat before they are let out into the yard with their mother.

Hungary: Cars are piled up in a flooded parking lot in Devecser, Hungary on October 5, 2010 after the village was submerged on October 4 by toxic red sludge from a local aluminum plant. This was Hungary's worst ecological disaster that threatened Europe's second longest river -- the Danube.
